Workshop 5 Final Submission

The final project for workshop 5

The final project was built based on the idea of clock from the site for this workshop. From this clock, the next development was the rectangular box placed on the base. It was positioned circling the base just like the clock. The height of the boxes were various and the hole at the boxes also different so that it could create various lighting effect. The orientation of the model also affected the light coming in through the hole and create interesting shadow light effect. Additionally, below one of the base, there are some small hole so people can see through what is inside the box. As the orientation changed, the amount of light coming into the box also change.

Workshop 5 Draft/Trial



This is the images of the trial for the final model. The idea is based on the clock and metal structure from the selected site. Then, creating two similar models that could be combined in different ways. For the trial, the model only use thin balsa and attached to the base in certain order. The height of each balsa must be considered carefully. Because, if not, the second part would not be able to fit and the model could not be combined.

Workshop 5 Idea


These are the site prepared for the student to create an idea and to represent it to a 3D model. The basic idea for the final submission is the clock and the metal structure as well as the building on the site.

The final drawing for workshop 1 submission. The drawings show the plan, section, elevation, and image of Seidler House. For the perspective drawing, the image shows the entrance to the upper floor which has unique and interesting feature. The wall pattern is abstract with different kind of color. Moreover, the door on the wall is quite hard to spot because of the variation of color.

Workshop 1 Home Task

There are some home exercise for this workshop, which help student to develop their drawing ability. Each week, the task given are different.

Home Task 1
The first home task exercise is to draw a plan, section, elevation, and perspective of the student own home. This exercise help student to improve their understanding toward the architectural drawing. The student also have to be considerable in putting all the drawing in the paper. They have to be placed neatly and easy to understand.

Two perspective

The second home task is the perspective drawing, both one point and two point perspective. The important aspect of perspective drawing is the horizon line and the vanishing point. To draw people, usually horizon line become the basic starting point, where people's eye located in this line. After, finishing the drawing, rendering is also needed to clarify the drawing, such as the shadow of the object and where the source of light is.

Workshop 1 In Class Exercise

This exercise is to be done in class and could be continued as homework. This exercise is the basic of architectural drawing such as the plan, section, and elevation. There are some task that were done in the class each week.

In Class Exercise 1


The first task in this workshop is to draw a cup's plan, section, elevation, and still life drawing. The scale is 1:1 and there are also the little plate for the cup. In this exercise, the measurement is very important and it will help student to improve the skill in the real architectural drawing.

In Class Exercise 2


For week two, the focus is the rendering technique. The first drawing is just to complete the drawing given and then add some shadow effect. The second exercise is to draw a chosen place by student using rendering technique. The drawing should not have any single line, it should be render to using different thickness of the pencil to create object.


In Class Exercise 3

For the last week before submission, the student are required to draw Rose Seidler House and place it on the lawn outside the Red Center. This will test the student skill in using appropriate scale and clarity on the perspective drawing. The House size should be able to match the background and the site provided. Thus, the student's skill will improve and they will understand the House for the final submission more.

Workshop 6 Draft






The series of vignettes draft for the final submission. The five shots showing the journey from the outside of Law building to the space inside the building. The building has so many interesting characteristics and features. Thus, this building become the object for the final submission. This draft is also for aiding the clarity of final submission drawing.

Workshop 6 Final Submission



The building used for the final submission was the Law building. The aim is to draw 9 - 15 vignettes that describe the journey from outside the building to a room that will be the focus of activity. There are 5 words that become the main aspect in the images of the storyboarding. First word is facade, which usually make people notice the building. This is because of the distinctive facade that the building has. It has various shape and geometry in different angle. The second word is the materiality, which could be seen quite clear inside the Law building. For instance, the different use of timber panel, concrete, and transparent glass for different purpose. For the next word, experience, is an important aspect of buildings. In this building, the spatial experience could be categorized as complex. Some spaces could be seen within the building. The fourth word is paths, that mean the alternative paths from one space to the other space inside the building. The path not only lead to one place but separate into many paths to other places. The last word is shape. In particular, the shape and form of the exterior as well as interior. The form of the exterior various geometric abstract shape, while the interior has trapezoidal shape timber panel. Both exterior and interior create different form and experience.
